March 31, 2021
africa

Dear reader,

The aim of this newsletter is to give you an easy-to-read overview of the latest tax updates in Africa. Based on the 2021-2022 budgets of Botswana, Ghana and South Africa, this edition of our NL-Africa Tax Desk newsletter shows some of the trends that we have seen developing in African governments’ fiscal policies over the past year. These trends include limitation of interest deduction to a fixed percentage (e.g., 30%) of earnings, an increase of VAT rates, measures regarding the taxation of digital services and the implementation of new environmental levies.

If you would like to know more about the matters addressed in this newsletter or have any feedback, you are welcome to contact Sebastiaan Paling (Head of the NL-Africa Tax Desk).

Best regards,
NL-Africa Tax Desk team
