Tijs joined Meijburg in 2014 and has amassed more than 10 years of experience in the tax field. He specializes in international tax law, corporate income tax and the Innovation Box, with a particular focus on the high-tech industry. Tijs mainly works for companies that have their head office in the Netherlands and are internationally active, as well as Danish and Swedish multinationals. His expertise in the Innovation Box regime (including feasibility studies and ruling procedures with the Dutch tax authorities), international tax law (including withholding taxes and treaty application) and tax health scans makes him an indispensable specialist for these companies.
Tijs’ strengths are his ability to quickly understand new developments and his in-depth knowledge of complex tax structures. During the corona pandemic he proved his worth by, as manager, becoming the nationwide liaison for the NOW scheme. His blogs and articles in the Financieele Dagblad contributed to adjustments to that scheme, resulting in better assistance being provided to businesses.
His close collaboration with KPMG teams in Denmark and Sweden, including frequent business trips and a three-month secondment to KPMG Denmark in 2018, underlines his international experience and involvement. In addition to his daily activities, Tijs is chair of the corporate tax consultant network for the Southern Netherlands region.
